I Have Caused My Own Soul to Suffer

This is an acrylic painting I did inspired by the prayer for forgiveness, dua e kumayl. This line always hits me at the heart because it reminds me that by sinning, I’m really only hurting my own soul. It’s not a painting if myself, I just wanted to capture the feeling of having to watch your own soul suffer as the curtain is lifted and you begin to weep for it as you realize the true consequences of your sins. O God, please forgive me.

Such a beautiful and haunting painting. It’s true: we are hurting our own soul when we sin.
